Trade and industry

The Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Baden-Württemberg (Industrie- und Handelskammern in Baden-Württemberg) (IHK), as providers of a comprehensive information and advice service, create the best possible framework conditions for business start-ups in trade and industry. For example, they offer services in the following areas:

  • Regional economic policy
The IHK states its view on the relevance of town centres on restrictions to product ranges, promotes city, town and regional marketing and campaigns for the promotion of the town centre as a retail location.
  • Start-up support and business development
The IHK accompanies you on your way into self-employment, informs and advises you on all topics regarding business start-ups and supports you for example when drawing up a business plan.
  • Training and further education
The IHK supports you in all issues relating to training and further education.
  • Innovation and environment
The IHK states its views on current issues and fundamental topics and informs you promptly of new developments and rulings (e.g. on compulsory deposits bottles).
  • International aspects
The IHK collects information for companies who import or export goods or who would like to know more about foreign investment locations. Baden-Württemberg International carries out market development measures for the State of Baden-Württemberg at home and abroad, and promotes groups of companies participating in trade fairs abroad. In the iXPOS Foreign Trade Portal (Außenwirtschaftsportal iXPOS) you will find all the services offered to promote exports and foreign trade for the international business of the German economy, which is provided by ministries, chambers, state associations and other associations.
  • Law and fair play
The IHK provides information and advice on issues of competition law regarding advertising and special sales as well as on matters dealing with industrial, company, fiscal and commercial law.
  • Economy, employment, statistics

Furthermore you will also get information on the special requirements and the authorities responsible for issuing licences for trades requiring a licence as well as the additional inspections for trades requiring inspections.
