Disposing of organic waste
You can dispose of organic waste
- in a separate organic waste bin,
- in an organic bag (instead of an organic waste bin in the Ostalbkreis and Göppingen districts),
- at a local collection point (bring system),
- through home composting or
- in the special case of the districts of Emmendingen and Ortenaukreis via the residual waste bin.
You can dispose of green waste, especially woody garden waste, at the local green waste collection centres in the urban or rural districts.
In some districts, year-round or seasonal green waste collections are also organised.
Prerequisite
You would like to dispose of biowaste.
Biowaste is, for example
- Vegetable and fruit waste,
- Balcony and potted plants,
- used coffee filters and tea bags made from natural fibres,
- solid food waste,
- solid used cooking fats,
- old bread,
- Eggshells,
- Fallen fruit,
- Leaves,
- Lawn cuttings,
- small hedge cuttings.
important: Do not put PE plastic bags in the organic waste collection!

Find out from the administration of your waste management company which organic waste you can dispose of in the organic waste bin, the organic waste bag or via the bring system.
Most municipal and district waste management companies publish waste calendars. These will tell you the collection dates and types of collection.
