Hunting licence application
You receive the hunting licence as an annual hunting licence for one hunting year or for a maximum of three hunting years or as a daily hunting licence for 14 consecutive days.
You must have the hunting licence with you during the hunt.
Hunting licences from all federal states are valid throughout Germany.
Prerequisite
- Minimum age:
- 18 years (regular hunting licence) or
- 16 years (youth hunting licence)
- Passed German hunting examination
- Proof of sufficient hunting liability insurance
With a youth hunting licence, you may only hunt when accompanied by a parent or guardian or a supervisor authorised in writing by the parent or guardian. The accompanying person must also be experienced in hunting.
Responsible department
- If you live in an urban district: The city administration
- If you live in a rural district: The district administration
Note: If you do not have a main residence in Baden-Württemberg, the administration of the city/district in whose district you wish to hunt is responsible.
Procedure
You can apply for a hunting licence in writing or online, depending on what the competent authority offers.
If you want to apply online:
- Call up the relevant page via service-bw or the homepage of the responsible district or city district and follow the instructions.
If you want to submit it in writing:
- Complete the relevant application form.
- Hand in the completed and signed application form to your lower hunting authority or send it by post.
- Enclose sufficient hunting liability insurance.
If you are applying for a hunting licence for the first time, you can - if you are not submitting the application by post or online - also appear in person at the relevant office.
The issuing authority will check your reliability and personal suitability under hunting law before issuing the hunting licence.
You can also submit the application through another person with a power of attorney.
The authorised person must then present both your ID card and their own to the competent authority.
If there are no grounds for refusal, the lower hunting authority will issue the hunting licence.
You can then collect this in person or have it collected by an authorised person.
It can also be sent by post.
