Request a file card copy
You can have a certificate issued from the local driving licence register using your personal driving licence data.
The copy contains all the entries on your driving licence. It confirms which driving licence categories you have acquired.
The transcript is required if you did not obtain your driving licence in the area of validity of the driving licence authority at your current place of residence and the driving licence is not yet stored in the central driving licence register.
This applies to all driving licences issued up to and including 31 December 1998, including grey or pink paper licences.
Here are two examples of when the competent driving licence authority at your place of residence will require a copy of your driving licence:
- You want to exchange your pink or grey paper driving licence for an EU card driving licence
- Your paper driving licence has been lost and you need a replacement driving licence.
Prerequisite
Your paper driving licence was not issued by the driving licence authority at your current place of residence.
Responsible department

Procedure
You can apply for a copy of the index card from the driving licence authority that issued the paper driving licence.
The application can usually be made informally, for example by letter or e-mail. If the competent authority already offers an online application for a transcript of the index card, this can be used via the link.
The transcript of the index card is usually sent directly to the competent driving licence authority.
