STÄRKE state programme - information for parents

The aim of STÄRKE is to strengthen the relationship, parenting and everyday skills of (expectant) parents. It offers

  • Information on the birth of a child,
  • Open meetings without registration on various topics for families of all types and in all family phases,
  • Offers for families in special life situations, for example
    family education courses, family education camps and weekends.

All families should have access to family education and meeting programmes. The aim is to provide a needs-based family education programme that is designed with the participation of families.

Funding is available for providers that

  • offer low-threshold, needs-based programmes for all families and (expectant) parents, such as open meetings,
  • offer special family education programmes for families or (expectant) parents in special life situations,
  • organising special family education camps and weekends for families and (expectant) parents in special life situations.

Special life situations include, for example

  • Single-parent families
  • early parenthood,
  • Families with same-sex parents,
  • Families with experience of violence,
  • Families with experience of illness (including addiction), disability or a family member in need of care,
  • Multiple birth families,
  • Families with experience of flight and immigrant families,
  • separated families.

Depending on local needs, the youth welfare offices decide for which special life situations special parent education courses are offered.

Procedure

You will automatically receive information about STÄRKE from your local authority when your child is born. If you are taking a baby into permanent care or for adoption, you will receive information about STÄRKE from your local youth welfare office.
